kuzey anadolu fay hattının (bkz: kaf) 1939 erzincan depreminden (1999 izmit depremi)ne kadar domino etkisi yaparak batıya doğyu gelmesine binaen çok yakın zamanda istanbul yakınlarında beklenen depremdir.
kaf aslında bu özelliği ile yabancıların da dikkatini çekmeyi başaran ve sismolog camiasında oldukça biline popüler bir fay hattıdır.
